The Beautitudes

The Beautitudes ~ Matthew 5:1-12 (NIV)

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
    For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
    For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
    For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
    For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
    For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
    For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
    For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Inilah Kutbah Tuhan Yesus di Bukit. Hari ini, saya membuka ayat ini semula dan saya tujukan khas entry saya kali ini kepada 'The Father of Nation' Sir Nelson Mandela yang telah meninggal dunia malam semalam.

Sewaktu saya meneliti sejarah hidupnya, saya rasa sangat sebak. Dan saya katakan dia memang layak untuk menerima penghormatan dari semua rakyat di dunia ini. Apa yang dilakukan sepanjang hidupnya adalah gambaran kepada imannya kepada Tuhan Yesus Kristus. 

Sepanjang hidupnya, dia memperjuangkan hak kesama rataan kepada semua kaum. Dia menyampaikan message pengampunan dan pemulihan lewat hidupnya sendiri. Dipenjara selama 27 tahun kerana memperjuangkan hak semua bangsa di South Africa without looking to skin colour, religion or race. Dan apa yang menyentuh hati saya adalah ucapan beliau semasa perayaan Paskah..

"The Good News borne by our risen Messiah who chose not one race, who chose not one country, who chose not one language, who chose not one tribe, who chose all of humankind!" ~ Sir Nelson Mandela

Terpujilah Tuhan kita YEsus Kristus yang mati di kayu salib bukan untuk saya dan orang Kristian saja, tetapi DIA mati untuk semua bangsa. Dan barang siapa yang percaya kepadaNya tidak akan binasa melainkan beroleh hidup yang kekal.

Nelson telah mengakhiri hidupnya dengan begitu cemerlang. Tuhan pasti tersenyum sambil mendepakan tanganNya menyambut Nelson di pintu Surga. Dan sy tau, Nelson pasti tersenyum bahagia.

Mari kita semua anak-anak Tuhan, jadilah history maker dalam kehidupan kita sekarang ini. You don't need to be a pastor to preach about forgiveness. We all can do that. We all can be a peacemaker. How we do that, because Christ lives in us and He will help us to overcome this world. Choose to bless people not giving them curse. Choose to love not to judge.
